Introduction

Cities are the driving force behind the growth and development of a country. They serve as the central hub of all the economic and social activity in a country. People from a all parts of the country visit these cities in the search of a better source of livelihood for their families. Bloomington was established in 1818 and situated in Indiana, United States. This essay aims to provide an account of the urban development that would have taken place till 2020.

The city of Bloomington is booming with activity and there are a lot of tall skyscrapers built in the city. The urban and rural areas have are clearly divided and the activities and functions are clearly defined in them. The people living in the rural part engage in growing the crop and providing for the protein to the people in the city. However, due to the technological advancement they are able to provide more yield per acre. This has resulted in improving their quality of life and more people than before have realized the important role that rural areas can play in development of the city.

However, the people in rural areas have to use ingenious ways to grow their crops because of the low availability of land area in the city. The city has increased drastically in size and a large number of new industries have moved out of the city towards the rural areas to grow their operations. This has motivated the farmers to invest in high quality equipment and seed because they sell their crops to these factories at a good price. The logistics and storage cost for the farmers has decreased drastically and resulted in increasing their quality of life.

Due to the increase in industries in Bloomington, a large number of inhabitants from other areas of Indiana have moved into the city. They rent or buy flats and apartments because there are very few old American style housing facilities available in the city. Majority of those houses and bungalows are expensive and a large majority of people cannot afford to live in them. These flats are located in the residential complexes that are set up by the local government after they forecasted that the city will need to develop its residential capacity very soon in the future.

This increase in urbanization has put a lot of pressure on the service sector in the city. The sewerage system of the city has been recently renovated. This sewerage system has been designed and iterated with the help of leading civil engineers and now problems resulting from heavy rains do not affect life in the city like it used to in previous years. In addition to that, the city has developed a new mass transit system that uses trains and buses to help fulfill the increasing demand for affordable travel services.
