British Airways

British Airways is the flag carrier airline of the (UK) United Kingdom. The company has a head quarter at waterside near Heathrow airport, London. The airline is considered to be the largest airline in terms its fleet size. British Airway's operates both international and domestic flights with the major key area of operation in commercial flights. It also caters to various services like cargo freight, mail services and other auxiliary services all over the world. Mainly it runs its business in United States and Europe. It is situated in Harmondsworth, Middlesex, employing 42,755 people all over. It is emerging to be competitive and sustain its integrity as the best airlines which stress superior customer service. It has 300 destinations throughout the world; this extent of operations offers customers with world-class services at various destinations. Its customers range from explorers to executive. The European airline industry is highly regulated, since individual countries and governments aim to protect their flag carrying airlines.

British Airways has a long history of a combination of the first airlines in 1919, just formed in 1924 to Imperial Airways. In 1939, the Imperial name was changed to overseas British Airways Corporation (Boac) due to the expansion of the British Empire. In the same period, British Airways Limited were nationalized and Imperial Airways. The name Boac lasted until the seventies, when it was changed to British Airways. A British airway was privatized in the year 1987 and it is listed in the (FTSE) London stock exchange (Baker 2002, pp. 97-116). British airways operate in more than 300 destinations throughout the globe. In the year 2009/2010 the company reported revenue of £8 billion pounds, which is approximately 11 % lower than the revenue for the previous year.
