Abstract

The objective of this paper would be to study the trends in mobile learning and the use of mobile learning by the social entrepreneurs in the dissemination of information and knowledge to the underprivileged societies of the world. The paper will also study some case studies related to mobile learning and its use by social entrepreneurs. The paper will study the case studies related to mobile learning and will attempt to identify the results.

The Value of Mobile Learning for Social Entrepreneurs

Introduction

The paper would be considering the social entrepreneurship as a new business perspective in attaining change in the social systems with the use of mobile learning which also has evolved as a new concept. The paper would be studying the literature related to the value that is generated by mobile learning by its implementation in social entrepreneurship. The paper would involve the study of the case studies and research articles related to the social entrepreneurship and the use of mobile learning in social entrepreneurship. The paper would also highlight the problem statement that the paper will attempt to answer and will highlight the method of the research which will be used to find a solution to the problem statement. The paper will hence conclude the results of the study based on the analysis of the data collected and the literature studied. The paper will also identify the models or frameworks which will be used to report the findings of the research. The paper will then discuss the results of the research and will identify the implications of the research. The paper will also highlight the limitations of the research and any shortcomings which the research had. In the end the paper will conclude the topic with the summary of the research findings and the recommendations related to the future research related to the topic (Kukulskam, A. & Traxler, J., 2005).

Literature Review

Mobile learning can be defined as the ability of the organizations engaged in learning and education to provide content related to education using devices such as smartphones, PDAs, mobile devices and other handheld devices (Wagner, 2005). All these portable devices are used by these educational institutes to disseminate information related to the subject under study or the program that is intended to be taught. The educational content consists of the education related material that is disseminated to the recipients in soft copies on their handheld personal devices (Motiwalla, 2007). Mobile learning is also considered to as directly descending from e-learning which also is the educational program conducted via the electronic mediums and communication technology. Hence, e-learning and mobile learning can only be differentiated on the basis of the fact that e-learning is the process of disseminating information using the internet as the only medium and mobile learning is therefore a subset of e-learning.
