Introduction

The Battle of Algiers is a film produced by Italian director, the late Gillo Pontecorvo, in 1966. The film was a black and white movie and it is considered to be the biggest film in terms of cost as the film was made with one million pounds and this amount was considered a large sum at that time. The movie has achieved a great success. The film tells the period of the struggle of the people of Algeria in Algiers during the revolution of national liberation major tournaments popularity against French colonialism. The Battle of Algiers won the “film award” Lion Golden in the Venice Film Festival in 1966, and the prize money during the festival. It also won three Oscars for best film and best direction and best screenplay in the years 1967 and 1969.

Czechoslovakia

Czechoslovakia's history shows that communists were homegrown in Czechoslovakia, and they were not installed by Moscow. A Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (CPC) was founded in 1921 and had a much broader base than the Soviet party. The Communists served in the first post-war government of President Eduard Benes, with a majority (38%) of the votes in May 1946. They controlled the key ministries, including Interior, Education, Information and agriculture. In addition to Soviet pressure was not to participate in the reconstruction program of the Marshall Plan. The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia seized power in February 1948, resigned as non-Communist cabinet members, in the hope of forcing new elections. Benes took over the presidency in June and was replaced by the Communist Klement Gottwald. This process was full of conflicts and clashes; often is very painful. The Communist government also had to respond to foreign policy initiatives which will significantly influence its decisions and measures of power (Wolchik: pp. 114-148).

The communist regime, communist, dictatorship or totalitarianism is the designation for the period during which Czechoslovakia ruled by the Communist Party. During the time of communism, Czechoslovakia was part of the Eastern bloc (socialist camp) and the Member State of the Warsaw Pact and Comecon. During this mode, especially during the first ten years, there were hundreds of people imprisoned for political reasons, interned or placed in concentration camps or labor or PTP and thousands of other victims of judicial murder, or died in prison or in an attempt to overcome the Iron Curtain.
