Introduction

Category may be defined as a classificatory division of any field. Classification plays a fundamental role in the design of learning. Categorization is the process in which different entities (objects, abstractions, and processes) are considered equal. It is a fundamental cognitive process in perception and understanding of concepts and objects, the decision-making process and in all types of interaction with the environment (Cohen & Lefebvre, 2005).

Discussion

Categorization and classification mean basically the same thing, classification but is more often used in mathematics or engineering, categorization in philosophy and psychology. The term classification may further comprise setting the classes.
