Analysing Chopin's 24 Preludes

Elements of a piece of music

Different components unite together to form a piece of music. Following are the important element of a piece of music.

Harmony

Harmony occurs when two or more notes sound together.  Western music has developed a deep system of harmonic organization, which is widely used by most composers. The harmonic support is provided by the lower strings. When the whole orchestra plays the music, different tools perform a variety of music, combining harmoniously in a chord, that is, a group of notes with running together. Chord sequence is the basis of musical harmony, and a huge variety of ways to connect them to the composer provides ample room for creativity.

Melody

It is a series of sounds that form a recognizable structure. This is the main part of the music, familiar to almost everyone. The earliest example of melody appeared when the monks began to recite the words of the liturgy, divided into voices of different heights to achieve a greater effect. Many of these services were recorded and catalogued by Pope Gregory I between 590 and 604 years and are still used today.

Rhythm

Any music is rhythm. In everyday speech, we constantly and unconsciously distinguish some sounds, lengthen, shorten or even eat some words to say what we want to say. Musical communication in the same way as the speech is highly dependent on diverse rhythms. The duration of notes is controlled rhythm, so it is a rhythmic pattern determines the melodic message that the composer sends the listener. It is possible that early forms of music generally consisted of only one rhythm, when a wooden mallet beat on hollow logs or on an empty deck, covered with animal skins, that is, primitive drum.

In a measure (or a phrase) the organization of the duration of the notes which follow defines a rhythm. Or more precisely, a rhythm pattern (also called rhythmic cell) that will be repeated throughout the phrase, see throughout the song.

If you change the duration of the notes that follow it changes the pace. We can have as many different rhythms that are possibilities to arrange the length of notes in a measure or a musical phrase. The number of possible patterns is infinite. But everyone is characteristic of a piece.

In other ways rhythm can be defined as: “The rhythm is the basic structure of a musical phrase (or an element of musical phrase) which constitutes a pattern and is repeated throughout the song. This pattern includes a set number of times. The time can be divided into accented and values ??(black, notes, etc. ...) that remain in constant relations of proportionality”

Rhythm clearly is a fundamental element of primitive music, and for centuries was a huge development and distribution, reaching an incredible sophistication and complexity in all sorts of music. In Western music the most powerful and significant rhythm occurs in those genres, which are derived from the dance ...
