ABSTRACT

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Clinical Simulation” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “Clinical Simulation” and its relation with “Enhancing Learning”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “Clinical Simulation” and tries to gauge its effect on “Enhancing Learning”. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for “Clinical Simulation” and tries to describe the overall effect of “Clinical Simulation” on “Enhancing Learning”.

Introduction

Traditionally, the training of students and health professionals has focused on the acquisition of knowledge and technical skills in clinical settings, but for optimum results and safety in the care of patients, use of patient simulator scale (SER) can lead to a quantum leap as it allows participants to reflect and learn from their own experience, providing a new method of learning and training in which intertwine knowledge, skills and human factors. This teaching methodology improves the decision making process, communication between the equipment, optimization of resources and possible error, which in real cases would have serious consequences. The course is eminently practical, the students participate in the development of clinical cases with BE and then analyze and discuss the practical cases encountered (Jaganathan & Kincaid, 2002).

Enhancing Learning

High Fidelity Stimulation provides a new method of learning and training which intertwine knowledge, skills and factors humans. The simulation, as defined by the Center for Medical Simulation (Cambridge, Mass.), is a situation or a scenario created to allow people experience the representation of a real event with the order to practice, learn, evaluate, test or acquire knowledge of systems or human performance. The simulation is meant as a technique, not a technology, may be worn properly, without exaggerating the reality but at the same time without minimizes or ridicule both the inactive element (virtual model) as the element active (student teacher). This technique aims to extend, replace the experience real, targeted experiences to reproduce material respects, important and transcendent of a real situation that can be daily or, Otherwise, exotic and rare but not that unrealistic. In the area of simulation with dummies, there are many studies that demonstrate the interest, high realistically achieved in the design of the different scenarios and future possibilities in this field.
