It is apparent in the case study that the health professionals are not bothered about the patients comfort (Dalrymple, 2006, pp.23).

The nurses and the doctor should understand that the Bangladeshi patient is in an ambiguous state and ambiguity leads to the development of the fear of the unknown especially if they have to undergo a treatment or a surgery. The Bangladeshi patient need to be told what they are going through and a support system is required especially from the professionals. Their reaffirmation plays an important part since the patients in general have a perception that professionals know best. It is the affirmation of the authority that has the expertise or the nurse that the patient starts to believe. The professionals need to be sure that there is a 2 way communication which can lessen eradicate the fear of the unknown (Davey, 2002, pp.45).

Patient Satisfaction

The cliché jargon of “customer satisfaction” is equally vital and equally applicable in the field of nursing. It is crucial for the nurses and the doctors to empathize and comprehend with the fears, doubts as well as the anxieties that the Bangladeshi patient is undergoing. This understanding would only be possible when there is proper communication. The nurse may be preoccupied with the concerns she already had and can neglects patient's concern. Answering their questions and having a reassuring smile brings a great level of satisfaction in patient. Effective communication of nurse plays a vital part in patient's satisfaction. Attitude of the nurse is the non-verbal communication sometimes. The practitioners should make use of the verbal and nonverbal communication modes. It is not only the spoken words but also the smile or tap on the patient's shoulder that can be a source of support and comfort (Donnelly, 2008, pp.89).
