Strategies to Counter the Barriers of Communication

Summary

With the rapid globalization taking place at a great pace in the context of professional organizations, many organizations have to grapple with diverse challenges. One of the potent and contemporary challenges faced by professional organizations today is that of communication. As businesses transform into multinational organizations, they have to deal with various challenges pertaining to cultural and linguistic barriers. There is a huge role of communication in the accomplishment of organization's international goals. Barriers of communication are significant obstacles in the accomplishment of organizations globalization endeavors. There are language related barriers which must be addressed to a great extent by multinational organizations. Since cultural diversity is highly essential in the context of globalised operations of organizations, it must be focused upon by organizations and the intricacies associated with cultural diversity must be taught to the employees.

In addition to addressing language barriers, employees must also exhibit a high degree of emotional intelligence. Since there are a great number of emotions involved in multi lingual communications, employees must be aware of both the distinct favorable and unfavorable emotions associated with a specific culture. Culture specific factors must be addressed to a great extent by multinational organizations. We have discussed some strategies that go a long way in successfully addressing the communication barriers in the international context.

Abstract

Communication plays a huge role in the overall success of an organization's globalised goals. The barriers of communication need to be addressed by multinational organizations as these barriers to communication would significantly hamp0er the organizational performance especially in the globalized context. Thus, implementing specific strategies that deal with language related barriers and understanding the specific culture's factors must be addressed by organizations. Communication can be defined as an essential componannt of the contemporary modern society, as it has helped unify the various global societies.

The modern cosmopolitan society is built through the amalgamation of the diverse socio ethnic groups of individuals that are present in the mainstream society, and this societal; structure has helped encourage the process of globalization. In this perspective it is essential for the various instituitions of the developed socities to abolish any barriers to communication between indivuudals, so that the maximium benefits can be provided for the overall community. In this paper the significance of the communication process and the factors which inhibit this activity are critically analyzed. This paper will present the suggestions for the contemporary societies to enhance their communication processes and develop a closely knit and unified society.
