Introduction

Lutheran Social Services New Americans have a major task to continue the tradition of welcoming the diversity and assisting refugees in achieving their dreams in USA. The organization has a vital role to help refugees who fled from the persecution, state of war and horrible circumstances in the country. The refugees who enter the foreign lands with the legal admission in the country face immense problems because they struggle to achieve the level of self-sufficiency in their lives. This is the reason why the Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota makes a big difference in this regard. However, the organization is not alone in this regard. The invaluable partnerships with the national, state and local agencies make the refugee resettlement and employment services possible. The involvement of various institutions such as schools, churches, health care organizations and social services has a major role in the establishment of adult living centers, civic groups, employers along with the individual volunteers and mentors. The Lutheran Social Services also gives assistance to people in the Immigration matters.

Theoretical Definition of the Community

Refugees are the men, women and children who are forced to leave their home country because of the uncertain situations in their lives. They find it extremely difficult to return to their homelands because of the criminal activities taking place against them. This is the reason why refugees are considered among the most susceptible people of all the immigrants who fled the country because of civil disturbance. The number of refugees is increasing at a very rapid rate. The US Government has agreed to receive and resettle a presidentially determined number of refugees every year. The experience of this agency in handling the matters pertaining to the refugees is 30 years. In this period of time, there were thousands of refugees who started their lives with the assistance of volunteers, church congregations and various other workers. The refugees usually came from countries such as Afghanistan., Bhutan, Iran, Iraq, Rwanda, Somalia, and Sudan. The comprehensive resettlement and the adjustment services are provided with giving emphasis on assisting refugee families. There is a huge support given to these refugees by the local and international representatives. Therefore, this is the theoretical definition of the community (Hanks, 2008).
