Role of the major public health personnel

Healthcare personnel play a significant and a very important role in community. Their role becomes much more important in situation of disaster or any catastrophe. When we talk about the role of healthcare personnel in any disaster situation then the role of nurses dominates. The nurse who is asked to work to in the relief program of a disaster must be prepared to get ahead in such an event. A nurse should be prepared to deal with the emergency situations. Nurses will be responsible for the actions expected of a reasonable and prudent person with knowledge and experience. Nurses need to make every effort to seek medical consultation and, as soon as possible. They must keep a record of observations and activities (Pauline, 2009). With regard to the public health personnel the role of others is also important along with the role of nurses. There were researchers, there were doctors, and there were other coordinating staff. In the community the researchers were gathering information and providing knowledge and information to deal with outbreaks of diseases. The doctors were there to guide nurses and providing precaution tips o the nurses who in turn used to guide people of the community. There were other staff that used to receive the emergency calls. There were scientists and technicians, food specialist that used to analyze the quality of food, its temperature and other matters related to safety and precautions. During the disaster management the role of the financial chief was to collect funds and making provisions of adequate amount to complete the required tasks so that the problems can be solved as soon as possible. Provision of loans and advising people whose business has affected by the disaster was another role of the financial offcier. The role of the administration of the county is to maintain the proper records and documentation serving as a liaison. Administration is further responsible for the coordination among different departments. The role of the logistic chief section in the disaster is to provide logistic resources to the various departments so that they can go to the people and solve their problems. The task of this department is also to provide logistic resources to carry out variegated tasks. For example, when there was a need to send the van to rescue pet animals from the homes of the pet owners then this was the task of the logistic tasks for the provision of the van. Similarly, there were other instances where the role of the logistic department can be observed. The role of the liaison officer is to maintain proper documentation of the records and statistics.
