Compare and Contrast

We will compare two poems, which has the same characters but, the context is different. The first will be Christopher Marlowe, and the second is the answer to this one, written by Sir Walter Raleigh. In both, you can see a different perspective of love. Many may feel identified with Marlowe and many others with Raleigh. In the end, I will give my opinion on each and introduce a bit of my idea of love.

Marlowe in his poem The Passionate Shepherd to His Love (The Passionate Shepherd to his Love) shows the image of a shepherd asks his girlfriend to stay with him and be happy. Throughout the poem describes boyfriend loving world of pleasure where everything is fine. He suggests listening melodies of birds and puts a cap of flowers. The patient lies on a bed of roses and dressed with the finest wool. It gives you gold and linen. Pieces may amber and coral Maybe help singing and serving glorious morning! It may be that all these pleasures moved to love, to live with the pastor and be his love (Steane, 1969).

Raleigh, then in his poem The Nymph's reply to the shepherd (Ninfa's response to the pastor) lives a more real and profound all at the request. Start with two strong sentences which calls into question the commitment of the sweet promises of the pastor. About the reader to the nature of the pleasures that love offers. In that sense, the pastor replied that the songs of the birds will stop listening to different times of the year, the flowers wither and everything may be fine in spring but not fall. She ensures that necklaces and other ornaments can be mistreated and even be forgotten. In short none of these little pleasures convince the bride to live with the pastor and be his love. However, in the end, she makes him a proposal: If your promises and joys will not have time, age or need you may decide to live with him and be his love.

What we see are two views of love. I could say that Marlowe is simple or superficial but very well done. She could also say it is a hoax or a mirage a proposal of this size. In the end, many have believed that love is defined in roses, gifts and seasons. It may be that the pastor is innocent, but, many have believed that anything is possible when we think we love. It is right there when Raleigh, by the Nymph, take this fever to the situation and come up with something more lasting and more real. In other words, it is an illustration on these pleasures to the fullest. I guess the decision they have taken those two lovers up to each reader (Robert, 2007).

Love might not be simplistic to generalize this feeling with delicate touches to be a way of self-knowledge and knowledge of the couple. Love depends on each one to find ...
