Introduction

This paper will compare two articles that are based on the environmental issues. This will help in developing a better understating about the changes in the environment and the climate and what is causing them.

Discussion

The first article “Inconvenient Truths: Get Ready to Rethink What It Means to Be Green” talks about the issues of global warming, its reasons and how it can be prevented. Climate is greatly changed because of global warming. Emissions from the greenhouse have played a very vital role in the change of climate. Recognizing that naturally occurring phenomena can result in atmospheric cooling, some scientists have proposed counteracting the global warming effects of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions in the short term through the application of geo-engineering technologies (Ludlum, 1984). Initiatives artificially increase the Earth's albedo include increasing Earth's albedo by floating durable chunks of reflective polystyrene in the oceans, injecting sulfur aerosols into the upper troposphere to reflect more solar radiation, manufacturing clouds to increase the Earth's reflectance of solar radiation, and, enhancing the oceans' carbon dioxide absorptive capacity by encouraging algal blooms with iron fertilization.

Causes of Global Warming

Human Waste: The human wastes are the leading cause of pollution of fresh water as well as land pollution. In developing countries, 95% of domestic sewage and 75% of industrial wastes are dumped in rivers.

Industrial Waste: In the United States in 2000, there were no fewer than 386,000 leaks from corroded tanks in 2000. Shell acknowledged in 1993 that a third of its gas stations in England had polluted the groundwater.

Heavy Metals: Lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium is released en masse by the mining industry. Production of the amount of gold needed to make a simple alliance produces three tons of waste contaminated with heavy metals. Heavy metals are very dangerous when ingested.
