ABSTRACT

This research study is an attempt to explore the concept of corporal punishment that prevails in the society. This research study aims at identifying the impact that corporal punishment has on the children. This research study assesses and affirms that does the corporal punishment helps or hurts the children. Corporal punishment, the purposeful infliction of pain on the body for the purposes of punishment, is probably one of the single most controversial and enduring issues in American education. Though more and more states continue to outlaw the practice, the practice still continues in certain regions of the country, primarily in the south. Corporal punishment is used most frequently in the elementary grades and used on black males more than on any other students. This research study has adopted a secondary qualitative research approach in order to answer the research questions. The findings of this research study showed that the children who face corporal; punishment are both hurt due to it and in a few cases it does help them to be a good human being.
