Introduction

American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) is the American nonprofit organization that provides counseling services to consumers. Organization was established in 1976 which is consisting on more than 100 agencies 800 offices in different parts of country (AMHCA, 2000). American Mental Health Counselors Association aims to provide counseling standards to education, professional ethics and Clinical Mental Health Counselors. Organization is also seeking to enhance the practice of the clinical mental health and also promote standards for clinical practice that anticipates the future role. This paper discuss the role of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and its staff in prevention, education, consultation, intervention, and advocacy, and if the agency itself reflects a multicultural environment.

Eligibility of Service

Organization has an aim to help individual by creating solution rather than dwelling on problems. American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) provides its services to Guard, and reserve members as well as families who are located in the United States (AMHCA, 2000). Study indicates that the rate of illegal migrants has been increased significantly in the United States in last couple of decades (Goodman & West-Olatunji, 2008). However, American Mental Health Counselors Association has significantly provides their services only in emergency cases to illegal migrants. With respect to health insurance absence of local community members, organization provides their services but also take little charge from them.

Organization Role with Respect to Mental Health

The clinical mental health counseling is set as national standard by American Mental Health Counselors Association for clinical practice. The clinical mental health services they provide through highly skilled and professional who are flexible and well aware from consumer oriented therapy. These professional are combined traditional therapy with problem solving that create an efficient and dynamic path for change and problem resolutions. Major clinical mental health services that organization has provide to its consumers are included: Psychotherapy, Assessment and diagnosis, Crisis management, Solution focused therapy, Alcoholism and substance abuse treatment, therapy planning and utilization review and psycho-education and prevention programs (AMHCA, 2000). The health professional can take time to perform risk assessment and offer emotional support, for which action must be properly prepared. During counseling, professional avoid collective and personal exhibitions encourage self-evaluation.

Education on Mental Health

The development of the educational component is an integral part of both the advisory input- to the collective and the individual. It is recommended that the information and explanations doubts user are performed interactively.

American Mental Health Counselors Association has aims to provide best services to their consumer (Thomas & Weinrach, 2004).
