Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to analyze a case study based on the different counseling approaches including Cognitive behavioral therapy, Psychodynamic approach and person centered therapy. In this paper a case has been discussed and the analysis is made on the basis of this case study. The case study is about the counseling of a client who is suffering from different issues including fear and sadness. The case study mainly refers the ways through which the individual problems can be located through social context. The case study is mainly related to different socio-cultural issues including sexuality, culture, gender and race. For this paper, the case study has been conducted and different counseling approaches have been used in order to analyze this case study.

Case Analysis

This case study is about a client named Harris who was a 30 year old man. Harris is suffering from PTSD which is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Harris is a white male and he belonged to a middle class family. Since his childhood he has faced different problem in his life. His family was a scattered family and his parents always fought with each other. Throughout his life he has faced difficulties and problems in his life, and has never got support from his parents. The broken relationship of his parents has left a very negative impression on him. He joined his career as an army officer but soon he has retired from the army job. He is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and he wants therapy for this. He wants to let his family know that he has different sexual orientation and he is actually gay. He wanted to tell his family that he is living his life as a women and do not like to be a man. He is a gay and does not have any interest in females. He wanted to change his sex because he is interested in men. This case is about the differences, diversity and race. The case is a depiction of a man who had been suffering from PTSD and was not satisfied with his own gender and wanted to change his sex. He was a man and he was living his life as a woman. He wants to communicate this to his family and wants to inform them that he is living a life as a woman and he is a gay.

Social, Culture, Race, Gender and Sexuality

In this case there were many social, cultural, racial, gender and sexuality problems were associated with Harris. Harris was not leading a socially acceptable life. He was a gay and was living his life as a woman. This is totally a socially unacceptable fact. As a counselor, I feel that this living style of Harris is totally unacceptable in society.
