Criminology modernism is an empirical and interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of crime, the offender, the victim and the social control of criminal behaviour, etc. The development of modern criminology mainly occurred in the United States. During the first half of the 20th century, criminological theories and research dominated psychology and sociology. Theories of criminal behaviour were seen as side branches of more general psychological and sociological theories. For example, theories explaining the criminal behaviour of social disorganization within the areas of urban centres were seen as part of a more general theory of human ecology in the process of urbanization. Ultimately, sociology had to give the resulting field of criminology in the United States, especially since the work of criminology were mainly carried out by sociologists and most popular theories emphasized the role of social factors in the promotion of criminal behaviour(Walklate, 2007).

Criminology has an empirical method and is interdisciplinary. In the classical school, deductive method was used. The empirical method takes experience as the only basis of human knowledge. The principle of these interdisciplinary collects information and integrates science, coordinates and proposes the solutions. This allows the Criminology of a scientific diagnosis of the crime.

In modern criminology, social control is called the influence of certain component parts of a society, in the form of behaviour of their partners. It is important to note that criminology deals with finding a way to optimize social control mechanisms, critical criminology explores the impact on human groups such control bodies, as criminogenic factor.
