Crips Gang

Introduction

A street gang called Crips was a criminal association in the United States, consisting predominantly of African Americans. As compared to 2007, the number of members of the Crips is estimated at about 40,000 people that have known confrontation with other criminal groups in the Alliance Bloods, which numbered less than the number of Crips. “Red” to the present time can not take away any Crips territory. Crips consists of many groups, most of which are located in Los Angeles (Klein, 1997).

There are distinguishing sign of gang members - wearing bandanas (and clothing in general) in shades of blue, sometimes - carrying canes. In order to join the gang, the guy need to commit a crime in front of witnesses, and for the girl, she needs to engage in sexual intercourse with the older members of the gang. Among the gang also originated the famous dance C-walk (Phillips, 2012). The gang has developed its own jargon and alphabet. The group was founded in Los Angeles in 1969, 15-year-old Raymond Washington and his friend Stanley “Tookie” Williams. Raymond Washington initially named his band Baby Avenues, being under the influence of the movement “Black Panthers”. Later, they began to call themselves Avenues Cribs or Cribs (Jah & Shah'Keyah, 1995).

Gang Analysis

Crips are known as the “Consolidated Crips Organization” that came to existence due to the coalition of individual street gangs. The Crips started from the city of LA, California. Crips consist of the individual gangs that are known as “cliccs” (Waldorf, 1993). The member of the gangs under the alliance of Crips are called Locs, and they call each other as “cuz” that is the short form of cousin. The members of the Crips gang wears blue color proudly that becomes their identity.

The Crips are an at heart, yet not just, African American force built in Los Angeles California in 1969 generally by 16-year-old Raymond Washington and Stanley Tookie Williams Iii. What was around then a lone gang is presently a give or take joined arrangement of novel sets, oftentimes involved with open warfare with one another. As the years advanced the gang has improved to be one of the most amazing and most forcing packs in the United States, as of now with over 30,000 pack parts.
