Analysis Of Study Background And Aims

The main objective of this article was to find out if parenting training plays a vital and critical role in assisting children to develop weight watch strategy. The researchers analyzed if the parenting training plays any key role in controlling the weight of children or preventing them from becoming obese. Apart from factors like physical activity and diet, family plays a vital role in weight management strategies (Costanzo and Woody, 1985). The comparison is made regarding which method is more affective in counteracting with the obesity issue of per pubertal children. The first method involves use of parental training together with the interventions in life style to control the obesity. However the second methods just include parental training as the only strategy to control the obesity. The study proved that first method is more effective and showed significant result however the second method was effective to limited extent. Also gender variation was seen. Boys seem to lose weight more than that of girls (Jennifer and Eriksen, 2010).

Obesity is now turning out to be endemic (World Health Organization, 2000). With the changes in eating habits and life styles of people obesity has shown augmented progress (Epstein, 1996). However parenting styles have known to cast a profound impact on the way children schedule their lifestyles. Therefore parents are supposed to be trained for healthier generations to come and to counteract with obesity as endemic disease (Hingle, 2008). Parents are individuals who have the maximum level rights of intervention and control in the growing stages of child (Gable and Lutz, 2004). Therefore training of parents is essential as this can lead to the eventual training of individuals in regards with the management of their diet and strategies to encourage healthy lifestyle (Robinson, Kiernan, Matheson and Haydel, 2001).

There are more strengths in the article then the weaknesses. Comprehensive and clear writing style is the major strength. As a qualitative study, researchers tried best to eliminate any level of prejudice and as shown within the details, the investigators took care to guarantee that the intensity of subjectivity stays at a moderately neutral echelon.
