Evaluating the Role of Psychodynamics and Cognitive Therapy

Introduction

This essay explores the variant aspects and ideas that psychodynamics and cognitive behavioural therapies assume. It entails a stock pile of Research data and relevant experiments carried out with clients involved in general mental disorder and anxiety. My work will focus on the efficiency and adaptability and adequacy of both therapies, and how its outcome and development can also be enhanced when used with elements from hypnosis.

It basically covers all the psychology related features and tries to alter a client's repressed thoughts. These therapies not only identify the mental issues like chronic, pervasive, and uncontrollable worry but also help the patient in getting rid of such physiological issues. It detects symptoms of anxiety and depression and figures out the root problem to fix it. (Alden, 1989). It entails a wide variety of supported techniques to that challenge other types of therapies. These techniques call for potential assessments so that the most appropriate and effective treatment could be chosen (Dekker, J,2009). Behavioural therapy provides us those techniques that can be standardised in which a situation is created where the therapists can easily recognize and administer the same treatment.

Psychodynamics and cognitive therapies consist of effective strategies that help in counseling psych patients and countering issues that might cause severe nervous breakdown in the long run. These therapies involve a range of tasks that improve the vision of the patient towards life and other things so that stress is reduced to a higher level and positive change can be brought to the patient's approach to various issues avoiding mental illness and emotional distress.(American Journal of Psychiatry, Feb. 2007, Vol. 164, No. 2, pp. 265-72).

Cognitive and psychodynamics theories not only provide medication and treatment for the psychological issues but also give the client a very positive living style as they are taught to deal with mishaps and unexpected things very smoothly and wisely without feeling panic and avoiding anxiety. There has been an argument that CBT must be used in combination with logical-rational strategies so that it can directly challenge the maladaptive thoughts.(Hayes, S. C., Follette, V. M., & Linehan, M. M,2004). The author of a psychological journal has referred cognitive therapy as a whole primary care of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and personality disorders both for adolescents and children. Psychodynamics is a term primarily related to psychic of human beings. It is totally related to the brain and is linked to all factors causing change to a person's behavior and feelings due to mental disorders.
