Critical Commentary

Even though the challenges that capitalism is currently facing were acknowledged, it was initially viewed as being beneficial to the society. It has been argued within the discussion board that

“This is the true fact that women have recently placed themselves in very secure position in-fact in every field. In order to achieve their desire, Capitalist society does play a major role to gave them freehand for doing profitable business to achieve their dreams to become true by avoiding gender discrimination”

However, it was also argued that women are not getting the attention that women are not getting the attention their male counterparts have received within the same field (Sastry & Pandey, 2000). This clearly shows the recognition of the flaw that exists in capitalism. However, the benefits that capitalism provides have also been acknowledged and accepted. But it wouldn't be wrong to say that the major beneficiaries of capitalistic societies are mainly businessmen, as they are earning under conditions most favourable for trade (laissez-faire) and earning a profit is much easier (Cowan & Rizzo, 1995). There do exist some groups which are actually worse off in a capitalistic society, such as industrial or factory workers (sweatshop workers) in third world countries (Kelly, 2010). They are usually working under dangerous conditions, and since the focus on a capitalistic society is towards prosperity by mass profit, there is more emphasis than ever on mass production. These mass production requirements usually do not take into account the worker's health and safety or working capacities at optimum levels. And it grows worse in third world countries, since they are developing and this focus is a necessary step towards their socio-economic as well as industrial development.
