Abstract

In this study, we try to explore the concept of “Critical pedagogy” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “Critical pedagogy” and its relation with “teaching.” The research also analyzes many aspects of “Critical pedagogy” and tries to gauge its effect on “teaching.” Finally, the research describes various factors, which are responsible for “Critical pedagogy,” and tries to describe the overall effect of “Critical pedagogy” on “teaching.”

Introduction

While the intellectual world agrees on the origins of modernity, it is certain that it has established the supremacy of rational science and universal as the only way to get to the "truth." In his historical overview, modernity has not met expectations to achieve more just imagined after the breakup of the former regime, on the contrary industrial development has revealed its destructive power and a tendency to establish privileged groups of people, more or less degree, only for their material welfare. These circumstances have generated growing unrest against modernity; the effects are evident in education, paradigmatic institution of the Enlightenment project. As an alternate path emerges critical pedagogy, this new utopia has been able to raise contradictions important positivist discourse, a historical and depoliticized of modern education also to restore confidence in human action to transform reality. Critical pedagogy offers an education based on dialogue to deepen democratic principles and create true equality of opportunity (Kun 1994).

Discussion

Initially, a person may raise the question that whether there is a relationship between the tool of teaching and critical pedagogy. On one-half, we have a philosophic objective of an applying a critical approach to delivering education, social shift, where the centre of attention is to empower people, whose voices have been marginalized or silenced. On the other half, we have developed a set of criteria's, which are supposed to lead the assessment and expectations of a teacher (Lincoln & Denzin 2003).

In my last experience as a teacher in a local school, there were students from down wards areas, who had really suffered tough things in their lives. I had used the tool of critical pedagogy to connect teaching with to connect with students' experience with the help of rap music.
