Introduction

Art has always fascinated me, and I find it really an engrossing experience whenever I visit an art exhibition. Knowing my passion about art and paintings, many had suggested me to visit the National Gallery of Art in Washington for the wonderful collection of classic and contemporary art, but I never had a chance to visit it. When we were asked to visit a museum for the assignment, the first thought that came to my mind was of this museum. On the 7th of March, I then visited the place with an old friend who shares the same interest as mine. The place is located on the National Mall with two different buildings for classic art and modern art. It was a pleasant early afternoon when we reached there and the thought of seeing all the amazing works made the day seem more pleasant.

Body

The gallery has two separate beautiful buildings with an adjacent equally beautiful sculpture garden that also has a fountain. The classical art is housed in the West building while the East building contains a collection of the modern art. A look at the buildings when we entered told us of the brilliance and beauty that lies in there. The masterpieces of some of the famous artists of the world are among the collection exhibited in the National Gallery of Arts. It has works of the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, Vermeer, Rubens, Rembrandt, Renoir, Van Gough, Pissaro and many more which are among the permanent installations. Paintings, drawings and art from the 13th century to present are displayed according to the time period and source in both buildings.
