Introduction

Originally culture refers to fundamental values, beliefs and norms that make up a society. Culture helps to differentiate one society from other society by its custom and image of its members. Culture allows members of its society to understand the situation and find solutions to apply on common problems. Similarly, culture in an organization plays a vital role to differentiate itself from other organizations. Organization itself is just an element of the society. Employees enter into the organization from surrounding brings their own culture with them. So, in order to eliminate the conflict between different culture, organization adopt an organizational culture to work smoothly. It is important for an organization to carry out a research to identify the cultural change. Pure research and applied research is the best way to conduct research in investigating cultural change.

Discussion

In an organization, a manager has to face many challenges, where he has to stay updated about all the changes occurring around him. In today's world, change is taking place in term of technology advancement, global communication and competition is getting intense. To respond to these changes, there is a need to upgrade in methods. Old methods cannot achieve the same success in an organization and those old methods cannot even respond to the changing situation. Manager hast o react to these changes, where the achievement of an organization is depended on the capabilities of the manager is to adapt and to react on rapid changes (Kotter, 2007)

.Managing the changing needs have to be part of everyday plan for a manager and leader. To achieve competitive advantage by minimizing costs and maximizing quality of the product of the company, lean thinking is considered to be the best approach for improving the performance of the company. Integration of lean as a complete process in the company can make sure the adaption of an organization.

The acceptance of lean approach can change more or less everything in an organization; consumer choices, the work nature, and destiny of an organization by merging the skill and mass production (Womack & Jones, 1994). The approach to lean includes different practices that intend to improve efficiency of an organization, quality of the products, and customer responses. Lean production is an initiative to minimize the waste in inventory, human effort, and manufacturing space to manufacture high quality product by being most responsive to the demand of customer in a most economical and efficient manner (Todd, 2000).

The differences between two important approaches to study the lean production, where first approach in thinking scientifically is to focus on conceptual reformation and content knowledge, and another approach is to explore strategies that can be use for informal hypothesis testing, which is not specific to the content (Koslowski, 1996). These approaches can also be referred as specific approach and general approach.

The specific approach will require having conceptual knowledge to find solution to a specific area of science. On the contrary to specific approach, general approach requires to study scientific thinking investigation ...
