Cystic Fibrosis

Introduction

The cystic fibrosis is a life taking disease that moves through the individuals in the families. It is a kind of disease that is inherited in a family and is not curable. It is chronic disease that affects the human body gradually and finally it leads the people, who suffer from this disease to death beds. Cystic fibrosis affects the internal organs and mostly it affects the lungs and digestive system and in addition to it, the other body organs gradually lose control and its functioning. This disease mainly affects the lungs, pancreas, liver, intestines, sinuses, and sex organs.

According to the medical survey, it is found that, in United States, about three thousand children and seven thousand adults are affected from this life taking disease and thousands of people are dead because of this serious disease. According to the research studies, it is also estimated that about 1 person in every 29 people, in American society, is having cystic fibrosis gene. The damaged and infected gene inside the body and its protein product are the major factors that creates the origination of this disease and when this disease is develop inside the body, it creates abnormal thick and sticky mucus that block the lungs and then create the severe and dangerous infections in the lungs and this causes the death of the patients. The blockage caused by thick and sticky mucus also blocks the pancreas and discontinues the usual enzymes in the body functioning and it restricts the body in breaking down and absorbing the food.

Causes of cystic fibrosis

The cystic fibrosis is developed in the body by transformation in a gene called the cystic fibrosis trans-membrane conductance regulator (CFTR). This element in the body is essential in formation of sweat, mucus, and digestive fluids. The single healthy and anti gene enzyme is required to avoid cystic fibrosis in the body. But some of the people have two genes. If there not even one of the genes in the human body, the body is more likely to develop CFTR protein, that can be the cause of cystic fibrosis.

The other cause of this serious disease is the defective gene that leads the body to develop unusual solid and sticky liquid that is known as mucus. The development of this mucus is caused in the breathing track of the lungs and it is also developed in the pancreas. The pancreas is the body organ that helps the food to broken down into smaller pieces and helps the food to absorb in the body. The development of sticky and thick mucus is the major cause of this disease that leads the person to have severe lung infection and severe digestive problem. The cause of this disease has very severe and life threatening impact upon the health of the person and it affects the sweat glands in body and also it affects the reproductive systems in man. For the development of this disease a patient must inherit two defective ...
