Background Information of the Company

I have recently been appointed as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Allen Enterprises. Allen Enterprises is $25 million dollar company whose main operations include collection of data using Web Analytics. Once the data is collected the company then analysis the data by combining it with operational systems data. The company is currently located on one floor of the business plaza, due to which the technological infrastructure of the company is quite limited. Along, with that the company is currently using a local host server which has increased the overall operational costs of the company and at the same time a lot of space and time is consumed due to the local host server. The company currently does not have an effective and efficient security protocol implemented due to which the company has experienced some cases of data theft, in which the company has lost an extensive amount of essential customer information to hackers. Resulting in large amount of loses for the company. Now, the company is looking to expand its infrastructure and as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Allen Enterprises, I have been assigned the task to deliver a comprehensive information systems project plan to address the organizational growth that the company is experiencing.

Business Operation of Allen Enterprises

The major operation of the Allen Enterprises is Web analytics, which includes a set of techniques related to the analysis of traffic data on a site in order to understand their traffic as a starting point to optimize various aspects. There are two categories of web analytics that are performed by Allen Enterprises: off-site and on-site. The off-site web analytics refers to web measurement and analysis is independent of whether the owner of the website or given maintenance (Dash, & Sharma, 2013). This includes the measurement of the potential audience (opportunity), share of voice (visibility), and buzz (comments) of about what is happening in the Internet as a whole.

The on-site web analytics measure a visitor's path once you enter a website owned by the person performing the analysis. This includes conversions, for example what landing pages encourage people to make a purchase. Measurements on-site web analytics comparing key performance indicators and use it to improve a web site or the response of the audience against a marketing campaign.

Today, if internet is a part of the company strategy then Web analytics is a critical element to consider. Today, we can even assert that today any marketing campaign can be considered isolated from the Internet. How often the next step in a potential customer after seeing a notice on the street, television or in a newspaper is going to the Internet? Having an Internet strategy is no longer a novelty or an extra (Kumar et.al, 2012).
