Introduction

A data model is referred as the gathering of rules and concepts which are used in demonstrating the data models. For instance, the relational model utilizes tuples and relations; on the other hand the network model utilizes sets, record and fields. The advanced data model is discussed in the proceeding discussion. This data model helps local university to retain the records of their students. It may also help the university to perform several data extract transform and load (ETL) processes. The proceeding discussion also demonstrates the idea of entity relationship model (ERM) along with foreign keys and primary keys, which are used for UML class diagram (Thalheim, 2000). All of these features help the university in designing their data base system. Additionally this paper also demonstrates four different kinds of business intelligence reports that may facilitate the university in course management, student enrollment, or historical tracking. The proceeding discussion also demonstrates the idea of outsourcing along with the characteristics of different vendors.

Discussion

Entity Relationship Model

It is often observed that whenever the database of any organization or institution is designed, initially a diagram of entity relationship model is drawn. The diagram of entity relationship models helps the individuals to understand the requirements and processes of the data base in a more convenient and better ways. Therefore, entity relationship model is referred as the model or diagram of the data which is used to describe a database of any organization or institution in a theoretical way (Kim & Solomon, 2010).

In order to design the data base system of prestigious university, entity relationship model diagram plays a vital role in understanding and designing the appropriate data base system. This system helps the university in designing the data base which provides the opportunity to save and store all the records, including records related to faculty ...
