IT Data Design Concept

Task 1

Since the company is currently using Excel to store data. There are several issues that are being experienced by the company. These issues include.

Separation and isolation of data: Data is spread over several excel files, and have different formats; it is difficult to write new programs to ensure the correct data handling. Before should synchronize all data files to coincide.

Redundancy and inconsistency of data: occurs because the files are created by different programs and are changing over time, i.e., may have different formats and data can be duplicated in several places.

Difficulty concurrent access: because in a file management system is complicated that users update the data simultaneously. Concurrent updates can result in inconsistent data, since you can access the data through various application programs (Beavers, 2012).

Data Integrity Issues: The values stored in the files must meet consistency constraints. For example, you can insert a note from a student in a course if that course is not previously created. Another example, in stock units of a particular product should not be less than an amount. This involves adding large number of lines of code in the programs. The problem is compounded when there are restrictions involving various data in different files.

Difficulty to access the data: The proliferation of programs, i.e., every time you need a query that was not foreseen at the beginning implies the need to code the application program necessary. What is proven is that conventional settings file processing cannot retrieve the necessary data in a convenient and efficient.

Problems in data security: It is difficult to implement security restrictions as applications are added to the system as they are needed.

The payroll management system will be controlled by a DB administrator, who will be capable of adding, deleting, updating, and altering the record of the employees.

The company is in urgent need to implement a payroll system because they are currently facing the issue data redundancy, and security of data.

Human Resources System for payroll management

In general, the functions of HR software fall into four categories reflecting the four aspects of most commercial human resource concerns. These are: payroll, including the payment of taxes and expenditure of time and labour management, benefits, such as pensions, health insurance or employee share schemes, and human resource management, which cover all other aspects human resources application to retirement (Allin et.al, 2010).

Human Resource System for Time Management

The second major job of the Human Resources system is time and labour management. This is especially important in larger companies where large numbers of employees clocking in and out, or where businesses operate flexible working arrangements with their staff. For small businesses that may employ only half a dozen members of staff, it is easy to track where employees and manage any problems with attendance, sickness, and so on. In a larger company, this is not easy. The human resource system allows you to integrate a modern credit card with your time management ...
