Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of the management of the water resource in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on the way the water is consumed and how the excessive consumption can be controlled in the UK. Moreover, the relation of the management of consumption and expenditures of water will also be linked with the analysis of the metered and non-metered consumers in the UK.

Chapter 1: Introduction

Water is the necessity of life and forms the essential component of all the other basic necessities. The demand of water has been increasing in the entire world with the passage of time. Due to the overcrowding and overpopulation, the consumption of all basic necessities along with water has been rising and the authorities and governments have been taking further measures in coping up with this drastic increase in demand of water.

Problem Statement

The study being conducted here revolves around the issue of the demand of water and its management in different areas across the globe. The main problem discussed in this research report pertains to the proper management of the demand of water consumption and the concept of metering. The readers are made aware of the significant issues and challenges which are posed to the governments and authorities regarding the concept of water consumption in the modern era.

1.2 Background of Water Management

The concept of the consumption of water suggests that the water has been used in terms of its quantity; precisely, it refers to the amount of the water which is designated or allotted to the population around the world. No society can possibly exist without the consumption of water. This program takes us from unique landscapes in the Himalayas and to Borana in southern Ethiopia, where the rocks have been transformed into an oasis and it caters to over 300,000 people and one million head of cattle with water drawn from deep wells which are hidden.
