Population Size

Since 2006, Ireland has posted significant growth in the population size. On annual basis, the country population is growing at a rate of 1.6% (figure 2). Since 2006, the country has posted change of 0.35m in the population size (O'Hanlon, 2011).

Population Growth Drivers

As illustrated by figure 5, growth in Irish population is driven by four major factors including immigration, births, death and emigrations. According to estimates annual number of birth for the period 2002-2006 has been 61,000 (O'Hanlon, 2011).
