Development of parenting skills

My Initial Stages

Every child in the world is born with certain qualities and traits. I have noticed that these qualities was indulged in me when I was a child. I know that the development of parental skills is very essential as it permits the child to be able to reach its maximum potential (Macklem, 2008). The styles of parenting tend to differ between different families and individuals. Each style is considered to be unique in its own way. In addition to that, the style also tends to represent the personality of the parents themselves (Nevid, 2013).

I have noticed that these things may include nature and temperament, which are hard wired in to me at the initial stages of my development (Amundson, 2004). However, it was highly important for me to note that it was the responsibility of my parents to shape these skills and personalities in me, so that they were able to utilize it in a better way in the future. When I was a child, and at my initial stages of life, I found that it was considered to be of a very impressionable nature. I knew that my first teachers were my parents as they tend to imitate me (American Association of School Administrators., 1989).

Thus, it became the responsibility of my parents to teach me what they considered as valuable and fruitful in the long term (Macklem, 2008). I started learning from my father and when I grew up, I noticed that exact same thing, with an addition of some new things which had been its own personal experiences. However, most of the people tend to teach the kids as the flow goes (Amundson, 2004). These values are then passed down to younger generations, which aid them in making their own personal values when they grow up. It was generally considered that the best lifelong gift, which my parents could give me, were the moral values . It was highly important to note that my parents looked to teach me about being responsible and honest, fair, unbiased, loving, caring as well as friendly. In addition to that, my parents also taught me the notions of adaptability and self respect (American Association of School Administrators., 1989).

Another important thing to notice is that after having a child, most people attempt at getting themselves in the right frame of mind and become sober as well as straight edge. This was due to the fact that my parents were supposed to be the role models for me. In addition to that, my parents told me to do as they say and not as they do. In development of parenting skills, my parents was able to teach me in setting some rules and regulations, through which they were supposed to live their lives. These principles generally include very basic moral values including respect for women, integrity, dignity, being helpful and considering family values over ...
