Diversity is understood in the organizational sciences context as an expression of personal diversity and difference within a corporate environment. Diversity Management is the approach with which this diversity can be made active. The comprehensive approach to diversity management can be introduced into practice, health centers serve as a guide for the individual design. Organizations in the health sector are struggling with various, mostly traditional problems. The balancing act between cost pressure and the desired quality is becoming increasingly difficult. A change in thinking and finding creative new ways must be taken. Diversity management is an approach that understands personal diversity in organizations as a potential which needs it to open up the face of growing challenges. The systematic inclusion of diversity promises new learning and development processes by which individuals and organizations benefit. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the Diversity in the Workplace with respect to the nursing profession.

Culture is socially acquired knowledge, shared and transmitted therefore address the area of health, regardless of the social sphere. We cannot overlook the diversity and multiculturalism among all human groups i.e. subjects of nursing care. We live in a time of great cultural diversity. Therefore, there is a vital need that the nurses and midwife should take into account ethnic and religious differences between patients in their practice (Andrews, 1989).

United States is a country with one of the best medical coverage in the world. An extensive network of hospitals, a medical and health organization ensures medical care for all. With more than four million workers, US health sector is also offering an extensive amount of job opportunities to the nurses, healthcare professionals and minority nurses.

Impact of diversity on Nursing Profession

The concept of profession is usually associated with the social group to a degree that is obtained through higher education. Nursing as a profession ahs tuned over the years. The assumption that nursing is an art innate any woman has hindered the development of a concept of nursing as a profession. To understand this, we must make a brief historical review of the development of care in society, as old as man himself, and its association with the development of nursing. Nursing as a profession is emerging from the era Nightingale. The need to generate knowledge based on the scientific method is evident in the establishment of the nursing process, and the development of models and theories underpinning the work. The code of ethics established and recognized establishes the norms and values ??of all persons professing the nursing profession. Linked to this code is the contribution that has historically been socially recognized nurses. Nurses through its diversity management have fought for social recognition which translates into better working conditions, opportunities and rewards for the guild (Cejka, 1993).
