Abstract

The purpose of this research paper was to find out relationship between drug abusing employee demographic background factors (e.g., age, gender), treatment-level variables (e.g., length of treatment, type of treatment, number of treatment episodes) and treatment outcomes and other barriers or obligations of not accessing or seeking treatment services of drug abuse disorders among the employees of an organization. For this reason, ten male workers were selected and the outcome was established. It was found that abusing drug was a result of failure in fulfilling major role obligations at work, school, or home (e.g., repeated absences or poor work performance related to substance use; substance-related absences, suspensions or expulsions from school; neglect of children or household). On the contrary, a large number of elements are there that contribute to the drug abuse problems between workforce. This research was based on the data which was collected via secondary research. Nature of the research was exploratory and its nature was open-ended. For screening, the DAST tool was used.

Introduction

Employees are well-known with the familial, personal, and communal expenses of druge abuse that is not treated. However, around 95 percent of adolscents who undergo with the disorders of drug or substance abuse, are not successfully connected with services of professional treatment or supporter groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Although the causes are not completely identified yet, regardless of the severity of problems of abusing drugs and prevalence between the workers, they hardly ever access the services for treatment. The depressing incongruity is that these most awful work-related reprobetes are amongst the smallest amount who are ready for seeking help (Clay, 2007).

A large number of elements contribute to the drug abuse problems between workforce. Acceptability of using drugs by the culture is of critical significance. The basis of culture of place of work is social norms. These standards notify the staff on the subject of mutual comprehension of what is suitable and expected behavior. A liberal culture of workplace is based on an ordered understanding that contributors inside a setting of work distribute about the component of behavior and what behavior represents proper drinking (or drug abuse). Liberal cultural norms of workplace pass on the acceptability of abusing drug founded on the expectations of workplace, traditions and supports by community, and predisposition of bearing and hiding the exceeding use (deMeneses & Crippa, 2009).

According to experts, the reality of finding the drugs in their cabinets of medicine by the adults to obtain high is the category of abusing drugs. Individual in 10 persons declare of abusing drugs to have high and binary, or one out of each 5 individuals admits of abusing prescribed medicine for similar reason (Wilson, 2011).
