Company's Synopsis

EasyJet airline company ltd has proved itself among the fast growing airline company while competing with other companies in the industry. The founder of EasyJet was Stelios Haji-Ioannou who had a colorful character because of which he was well known. This company came into existence in the year 1995. Since then, EasyJet has been growing speedily and has also made expansion in new acquisition of resources and also for opening new basis. The core reason for the expansion in the growth of EasyJet in a very short period of time was the market pull that was created by the demands of consumer for air travelling in low-cost.

EasyJet provides point-to-point air services in the mainland Europe and in UK. EasyJet has been covering a huge network of around 600 routes which enables them to provide their services to 130 airports that are spread across 30 countries having a fleet of more than 200 aircrafts. EasyJet have their head quarter in Luton, UK. It provides both the domestic and international airline services and has its largest air base in Gatwick, London which offers more than 60 destinations.

EasyJet has been looking forward to expand its services and go towards door to door services that could benefit their customers in every step. This includes booking of flights, buses, hotels, taxis, Airport parking, pick and drop to and from airport, lounges and travel insurance.

The industry of airline has always attracted attention of almost every person mainly due to the glamour, adventure and increasing number of people who are packing their bags for having some travelling adventures around the world, as said by Chan (2000). From over last 30 years, the number of passengers travelling around the globe has been averagely 6% that is almost the double rate of domestic product in global gross (Costa et al, 2002). The airline industry was already suffering from the economic bend in 2001 due to the horrific event of terrorism occurred on 11th September 2001.

According to Stasinopoulos (1993), Janic (1997) and Pender and Baum (2002) the main changes or in other words, deregulation that took place in the industry of European airline started in 1987 to 1997. This deregulation led the airlines to charge whatever fare they want and to travel wherever they like while the government will have no check and balance over them and will provide no subsidies services. This deregulation also protected the European aviation against practicing discrimination on the basis of nationality and allowed them to freely operate their airlines within the European Union nations.
