Effects of World War I on United States

Introduction

America appeared as a major power in the world after the World War I in 1918, both in political and economic terms. The US policies for its allies were rigorous and strict as it had some interests in better management of political and economic systems of several countries. Latin America, particularly, remained under US intervention for the purpose of removing the anti US government and place a friendly government that can act as an ally for maintaining the political, economical, and social interests of the US. The policies remained intact until the World War II, after which new strategies were formed in order to fight against the autocratic and socialist economic system. The intervention continued in order to assure the existence of democratic political system and a communist economic system (Norman, pp. 15). This paper further discusses the major domestic and foreign policy effects of World War I on the United States.

Discussion

After the war ended the political, social and economic conditions changed in Asia, and Africa, Europe and in other countries. When the war the economic impact was very negative as many jobs which at first were being performed by skill laborers, were now be performed by women and children. Although on the other hand the industries flourished at a large rate as more weapons were being made and industries were gaining profit as a result of it. Due to war, the economy damaged to a higher rate, and Britain's role in trade was diminished and damaged. This affected the affected the British economy especially to the industries such as iron, coal and textile industries etc. Britain had accumulated a loss of total 1 billion pounds which was mainly owed to USA.
