Introduction

Of all the food allergies in human, the second most common type of allergy is the egg white allergy after the allergy from cow milk. The allergy entails a hypersensitivity to the egg white that leads to disturbance of the immune system. The allergy is generally diagnosed with physical symptoms of the allergy. Although the allergy is more common in children, it is also prevalent among adults. The most common way of reducing this allergy as may be understood is the avoidance of the food item that causes it or limit the usage of the food item (Egger, 2011). There are certain instances where the allergy can become severe and take the form of anaphylaxis. In this scenario, the allergy needs immediate action and epinephrine may be used for its treatment.

Egg white allergy is most common in children between the age 1 and 5 years after which they mostly outgrow the allergy. However, for others, the allergy continues through to their adulthood. These are also the people who have to avoid the intake of eggs for life. Since, this is a very common allergy, there is a lot of research that has been conducted on the topic already, and there is still a lack of awareness regarding the management of the issue (Jurado-Palomo, 2010). The research will aim at developing an understanding of the egg white allergy among the masses.
