Introduction

Electronic Medical Records or EMR is software program issued by health care professionals to store patient's information in computerized system. One of the best examples of EMR is Patient keeper which is most commonly used system to keep patients information. In this article the author has stated that Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that there is a significant increase in the use of EMR in last couple of years. Kathleen Sibelius said that today hospitals and doctors are increasingly using health information technology and in future it is going to increase even more. Statistics show that more than 41000 doctors and 2000 hospitals have received incentive payment of $3 million to use health information technology effectively specially the use of EMR (www.medicalnewstoday.com). She also addressed that today more and more health care professionals are using and taking advantage of this effective technology for community betterment and the trend shall be continued in future.

Main issues

The main issue addressed in above article is states that only implementing computer systems in hospitals will not work. However for effectiveness and efficient use of EMR a thoughtful human process, configuration, and design is needed.
