Contemporary Picture Book of Hansel and Gretel

There was a big city called Perth where lived two children named Hansel and Gretel. They lived in a two bedroom apartment with their loving father and mother. Their father worked in a factory but hardly earned enough money to live easily, even in that small amount of money they lived happily.

One day the parents planned to take the children to the Theme park because the children wanted to go there. So on the next morning when they asked the children to get ready Hansel said” No way… you are joking right? Ooh dad I really wanted to see that place. All my friends have been there and I was the only one left”. But that was not the real reason. Hansel's father owed money to man which he was not able to pay back so that ma threatened that he will take Hansel away as a settlement for the debt. In the evening the kids and there father went to the park. Upon entering the place they saw a candy stall and said “we want to eat candy daddy”. The place was beautiful full of fun and. Since it was weekend there were a lot of people. Their father said” kids hold each others hand I do not want you getting lost”. The plan was to leave Hansel at the park to save him.

They were going to see the rides when Hansel saw few boys playing cricket. He wanted to play so he left his father and sister and went the other way. An old lady was watching Hansel closely and she saw how frantically he was searching for his father and sister. Since it was Hansel's birthday he was wearing the new clothes his mother got for him. That old lady thought in her mind “hmmm he seems like to be a boy from a rich family will get me a lot of money as a ransom”. She then goes to Hansel and says “child you look lost where are your parents?”. Hansel said “I lost them somewhere in the park”. The old lady took it as a perfect moment and said that I'll help you look for you parents. While looking she took him to a place where there were very less people she grabbed him from behind tied his hands and feet and put a tape on his mouth so that no one could hear him moan. She then said to him “there is no point in screaming dear no one will hear you here. Let the night fall and I will take you away from here and then ask for ransom from your parents”.

Hansel was crying while lying in the bush thinking what to do. Night fell and the old lady came to take him. Hansel pretended to be unconscious. The old lady poked him with her cane but he didn't move. She picked him up and put him in her old car's back ...
