Interpretation of the Quote

The quote selected for the topic is "How can I have a complete identity without a mirror? The most I now of my face is the scratch of bristles, an itch, a sense of tingling warmth." pp. 132-33. The quote reflects the views of a person on his or her identification. It provides an overview of the person who has bristles, an itch and a sense of tingling warmth on the face. It is making him conscious of this personality and is affecting him mentally well. He is feeling an inferiority complex. The person can undergo treatment for these problems and can continue doing his normal activities in life without feeling depressed.

The quote raised an important question related to the identity of a person. It is not necessary to have an identity based on the face. Some people are beautiful by face and they are appreciated but that does not denote their personality. The personality comes from the inner reflection of the person's mind and heart. The person may have a beauty but that does not mean he or she is polite, kind-hearted, sincere, hard working, helpful etc. These traits of the personality highlight the real qualities of the person. The person does not need a mirror to see their complete identity. The physical features of the person have their own value but they are not just enough to judge the personality and identity. The personality of the person is the biggest indicator of their identity. This plays a vital role in portraying the image of the person.
