ABSTRACT

In the recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance and need for improved health skills in the engineering and construction industry. The engineering profession is changing, which is resulting in calls for changes to the methods used for educating future engineers. Despite recent efforts to improve site safety, construction still accounts for a disproportionate injury and illness rate. In this research, we will analyze the importance of the health and safety measures in the U.K. construction industry. The main focus of the research will be on the health and safety measures which are currently undertaken by different construction companies in the U.K. and whether these measures are up to the standard requirement of health and safety practices. To assess the current situation of the U.K. construction industry in terms of health and safety of the employees and the level of awareness and training among the employees concerning health and safety at construction sites, we carried out case study and survey questionnaire analysis to obtain the results.
