European Health Care

Abstract

Health care system in Europe has been going through an enormous advancement, which has led to an increase in the costs to patients and financial needs by the health care systems.

Statement

European health care system is facing a number of problems, amongst which the financial cost is the alarming one. Around 2.3 trillion dollars were spent on the health care system in the year 2007 (Ranawat, Nunley, 2008).. With the increase in the financial budget, there has been an increase in the costly treatment, which is inaccessible for a majority of the population.

Background of the problem

Currently, the most startling problem is the financial issues with the health care system the minorities are not really in a state of affording costly treatments. The National Healthcare Disparities Report in 2010 calculated that these minorities are facing more financial barriers in receiving the health care services (Alleyne, n.d). With the rapid increase in the population, there has been a drastic increase in the health care demands of the population. The government has been taking different measures to overcome the issue and provide maximum health care to every individual. United States has been spending more than any other state, on its health care programs. Yet the result has not been satisfactory so far.

Issues

There are many issues that are affecting the health care system due to these financial obstacles in the health care system.. Some of these issues that arise due to limited financial support are:

Increased healthcare services cost & Compromised quality of care

Over burdened staff producing errors

Inaccessible healthcare services for the population (Brennan, Cafarella, et.al, 2009)

Advancing technology that is costly for the population (Janssen, 2011)
