Introduction

To begin the paper, the first section would cover the issues of understanding and exploration of the cultural background I come from; Haitian family. For the purpose of completion of this task approached my grandfather gain information regarding the issues mentioned above. He proved to be a reliable source of information as he gave a detailed account of Haitian and my family culture. He also provided information as to the legacy that Haitians and my family have been continuing as a sign of respect to our fore fathers.

Culture is generally known as a system of specific rules and guidelines that are unique to members belonging to a certain society or geographical region. These guidelines are also based on past experiences of a person or the entire group. All the cultures in the world share some guidelines that can be found in contrasting cultures as well. This aspect of culture makes it interesting to explore varying cultures and test the authenticity of historical information.

Discussion

It is only natural that I am interested in and influenced by the norms and rules of my society just as any other person in this world. My religious views, cultural values and lifestyle is influenced by the society that I belong to. The concept of identity also has a significant impact on how I form my views of my surroundings. Haitian culture's individuality gives us the belief of development of our motherland and imparts on us a responsibility of presenting it in a manner that is positive in nature. My culture is also an advocate of regeneration and promises a prosperous future. It must be kept in mind that the system of beliefs and its practices are interrelated to one another and are complex in nature. The dynamic nature of my culture reflects that some of the practices and norms will also remain central to the Haitian culture, with changes taking place over time. Americans live in an individualistic society that lays more emphasis on self development than family. To clear out the misconceptions and false beliefs, I decided to conduct interview within my own family to check whether Haitian and American cultures share any standards or norms.
