The main purpose of this paper is to elaborate the experiences of unemployment and death of a parent in the family stress model in relation to the stress areas. There is a very negative impact of the long term unemployment and death of a parent on the personality development of a child. As per the family stress process, the unemployment and loss of a parent are the main stress factors. These are the main factors that give rise to the family dysfunctioning and inadequate parenting. According to the estimates provided by World Bank, the number of unemployed people is increasing with the passing time. The World Bank has also claimed that the unemployment is becoming the main factor of giving rise to poverty and thus it is creating the stress for families. It has also been identified that the number of families with single parents is also rising due to which the single parent fails to provide the proper parenting to their children which becomes the main reason of family stress. The research presented by Boss claims that strong support of the parents is very necessary for the effective development of a child's personality. This the main reasons that the single parent families face the family stress. The paper discusses the application of unemployment and death of a parent in the family stress model.
