Total Recall (1990)

Total recall is an American action film with a tinge of science and fiction. This film is directed by Paul Verhoeven and was released in 1990. This film includes one of the finest Hollywood stars; such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone, Ronny Cox, Rachel Ticotin and Michael Ironside. The film is much related to the story “We Can Remember It for You Whole Sale” by Phillip K. Dick. As a matter of fact, this film is written by Ronald Shussett, Jon Povill, Gary Goldman and Dan O'Bannon. The visual effects are one of the pivotal factors of the film and due to this feature this film received Special Achievement Academy Award (IMDB.com, 2013).

The lead actor of the film is Arnold Schwarzenegger who made this film as one of the leading in the history of Hollywood. Arnold Schwarzenegger fits appropriately in the role of Doug Quaid, and is considered his best acting in a movie till date. The concept of science and fiction is amalgamated in this film which by default activates the palette of devices for the purpose of enhancing the overall taste of the film (Ebert, 1990).

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Douglas Quaid, works as a construction worker in the film, later he discovers that he primarily is an intelligence agent formerly named as Carl Hauser, who travel to the Mars in order to discover his real identity and to ascertain the causes behind the erasing of his memory. The scenes of the film are of full actions; however, in contrast to the current trend of the similar movies, the element of humanity is much vivid in the former than the latter.
