Abstract

The food addiction and its related problems are increasing day by day in the society of the United States. Along with changing life styles, many factors are contributing to the increasing rate of food addiction in the society. Various health related issues have also been arising due to the excessive food addiction habits that are keep on developing in the people of US. This paper aims at discussing the various factors that are contributing to the food addiction habits and behaviors in the people. Also the various studies have been highlighted discussing the problems in question. Some of the statistics are also included in this research paper, showing the changing trends in the food consumption behaviors among the people of United States.

Introduction

Among many developed countries all around the world, United States falls in the highest rate in the obesity diseases that its citizens are facing. The rising obesity rate in US has created the sharp alarming situation. Many factors are known to be contributing in rising obesity rate but the major factor is the food addiction among the people. The food addictive habits are derived from many factors and reasons, that will be discussed further in this report, that gives rise to obesity and then to other major life taking diseases.

Excessive food addiction and many problems related to it are increased to the higher rate. Many health care professionals, health institutions, health concern departments have made many campaigns against the food addictive and its severe bad effects upon the health. Various issues have also been raised that are presented in the society and that are leading the people towards the abnormal addiction of the foods.

There is striking increase in the existence of obesity in the United States society. According to the study conducted by Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the year 2010, it was come into notice that in every three adults, one adult has the common disease of obesity, and in every six children, one child has the disease of obesity (McQuillan, S., 2004).

People are more involved in taking foods. The changes in the culture and the societies have made the people food addictives. Various styles of availability of foods, also the promotion of food stuffs on the media have made the major contribution in developing the food addictive nature of the people. The readymade trend of food offered by the large number of companies is also the major contributing factor. People now have easy access to the readymade food that is available all the time. People are now less involves in the physical activities. Their activities have become limited to the comforts all the time.
