Introduction

Foster care is abuse or neglect by the child's parent etc thus in this report we will be considering the causes and interventions of misconduct in foster care. (Benedict 577)There are more than half a million young children dwelling in foster dwellings in the United States at any granted time. Neglect, personal abuse, sexy abuse, and emotional abuse are the prime causes that young children are taken from their dwellings and put in foster care. Substance abuse by one or both parents is a component in more than 75% of all foster dwelling placements. (Benedict 2004)

Attachment Theory, Foster Parents and Diversity Tolerance

The primary concern of the foster parent and their supports is with the foster child. But as a result the foster parent may distract or block reflection on their own attachment history Yet every foster parent has a childhood attachment history that influences their interpersonal relationships in adulthood.. This theory will focus on attachment theory and the adult, with particular reference to the foster parent. The theory will firstly explore attributes of attachment theory relating to adulthood. The theory will then explore how the interpretation of attachment in adulthood may influence tolerance of foster parents for diversity. The theory will draw on literature on attachment theory and its projection onto adulthood. The theory will then drawn the experience of foster parents and their struggles in attachment building relationships with the significant others who exhibit diversity. (Bamford 41)

Discussion

Children and parents in foster care are mostly invisible in communities and often lack many needed supports and resources.
