Abstract

John Locke viewed free will as nonsensical. Locke argues that mere is not enough for liberty of action. Moreover, he noted all actions that include free actions are nonchalantly or carelessly determined. Based on these features of John Locke's account of action and free will, few philosophers are of view that Locke is a soft determinist. On the other hand, there are fine ground that clarifies Locke is a libertarian and not a compatibilist in the human sense. Locke rejected that an individual is born with a predestined fate. In addition, he embraced that there is apathy even after a negotiator make his mind to do something. Also, even though he condemns the idea of free will, he still comprehensively adopts the idea of man freedom.

To give emphasis to the different natural world of power conversed he indicated that “there may be volition, there may be will, there may be thought, where there is no freedom.” For instance, a person fall into water has no freedom or liberation, as well as there is no free agent. In view of the fact, an individual would have preference not to fall from the height into water but he is not in a position to act on his preference. In the same way a person hitting a buddy because of a paroxysmal movement of his arm might not be measured by any person to have freedom ...
