French and Russian Revolutions

Introduction

The French resolution began in 1789 and was defined was a period of fundamental political and social upheaval in France. This resolution did not only have a strong influence on France but also had a major impact on the entire Europe. It was so major and strong that in three years it led to a collapse of the absolute monarchy, under which France was ruled for centuries (Richards, pp. 81). It is quite certain to say that the revolution enabled France to go through an epic transformation, as aristocratic, religious and feudal privileges were eliminated due to the sustained assault experienced from political groups.

This also had a strong impact on the old ideas about hierarchy and tradition of aristocracy, religious and monarchy authority, as they were abruptly replaced with new Enlightenment guidelines of citizenship, equality and inalienable rights. Similarly the Russian revolution which was initiated in the 1917 combined a series of Russian revolutions which aimed to destroy the Tsarist autocracy and resulted in the creation of the famous Soviet Union. It led to the disposal and replacement of the Tsar and led to the establishment of a provisional government. However in the second revolution provisional government was replaced with the Bolshevik (Communist) government.
