Gender inequality is one of the oldest issues and is still debated all over the world. Despite of all the advancements in the world, women are still struggling for their rights. People think that citizens of poor or less developed countries hesitate to empower women and give them their rights, but this is not the case. Even the developed countries have not entirely empowered their women and women do not enjoy their rights. It is assumed that gender equality means that men and women should be treated equally.

Gender equality comprises a lot more than treating both genders equally because it includes giving rights, to women and the liberty to exercise those rights, providing equal work opportunities to women as men, and providing them security in all walks of life. There are a lot of issues that need to be resolved if the world wants to attain gender equality. A number of ways have been suggested to solve this issue and now is the time for authorities like the United Nations to take a stance on this issue. Every country has its own human rights commission which should also look into this matter and work towards it. This issue is more serious in the developing countries as compared to the developed countries and needs to be resolved very soon. There are a lot of ways through which gender equality can be achieved, and a few of them are discussed in this paper.

Ways to Achieve Development and Broader role for Women in Society

The issue of gender inequality cannot be solved in a day. It is a lengthy and complex procedure and requires a lot of hard work and attention on the part of the concerned authorities. The human rights authorities of a country play a very vital role in providing equal rights to women. Other authorities such as the United Nations are also of prime importance regarding gender equality. Every country has its own human rights commission which is accountable for all such issues, and such commissions should take necessary steps to solve this issue. Gender equality is a very sensitive issue which is why it should be dealt with proper care. There is a misconception that gender equality means treating women in the same way as men are treated. This misconception should be cleared so that women get their due right in the society. Men are women are very different and have varying capabilities thus treating both of them in the same way is not a nice idea. There are many other ways in which gender equality can be achieved.

First and foremost women should be given their due rights. Giving those rights means that they will be able to raise their voices against any injustice. Women should be provided with equal opportunities in society, such as they should be allowed to work and should be eligible for a high paying job ...
