Gender Discrimination at Workforce

Introduction

Through several years, sexual discriminations have raised in different context. Employees are discriminated, when asked gender based questions, during their jobs or interviews. Employers may not promote their employees by considering their genders. It may also include unequal payment to employees by following gender discrimination. People throughout the world do not focus gender as the thing of discrimination (Lips, 2003. Pp. 89-90). Today, there are numerous women in the workforce as men. It is just the question that, one gender gets the equal amount of pay of same work or not. The question is not only about gender discrimination but, there is an issue of “Equal pay for equal work” (Ashraf, 2007. Pp. 130-131). Women have been overlooked within several decades, for job advancements and, higher positions.

Thesis Statement

Women are considered as the secondary sex in the society and, facing unequal pay at the work force, especially in Canada.

There is a misconception among male employees, and top management that, if woman may get power, she will not be able to fire someone or take firm decisions. Research has shown that, those women who are in power are more skillful than men and, have decision making abilities.

Women who are immigrants and, migrated to Canada for their professional needs have found strange behaviors of employers at their workforces, and jobs due to color and sex discriminations. Government has also adopted certain strategies for not supporting such women, who are immigrants and, have to support their families (Ashraf, 2007. Pp. 126-127). Earners in Canada are earning $89,000 per year (5% are the Canadian Workforce), and, according to the report, most earners are men. Recent studies have shown that, women are making 70 percent of the part time ...
